In addition to his comments in the article, there’s one more thing that didn’t make the article. The Labor Party will be using social listening and research to better understand how people feel about these changes. Will be interesting to see if that leads to policy changes.

Advertising veteran Ben Willee, executive director of media and data at independent agency Spinach, said AI image generators had given social media users the ability to insert themselves into campaigns that ultimately could have a real impact on policy.

“There was a time when newspaper cartoonists were the ones who lampooned our politicians. More and more, really witty and intelligent people can quite easily come up with a message that’s funny and engaging,” Willee said.

“Gone are the days when social media is what Tony Abbott described as electronic graffiti.”
