WHAT'S IN A NAME?

Once upon a time, a group of experienced multinational agency professionals decided to start their own advertising agency.

Their dream was to build a new kind of agency. Their agency would provide alternate solutions. Their agency would be nothing like the agencies they came from. Their agency would have no unnecessary layers, no convoluted structure – nothing to get in the way of creating effective communications.

But first their agency needed a name. So one morning they sat around a kitchen table to brainstorm ideas.

‘We don’t want initials in our agency name’, said one. ‘We don’t want to sound like a bunch of lawyers’, said another.

‘We want to say something about our approach’ said the third.

A few hours passed and many cups of coffee consumed when a six-year-old girl walked into the room. She approached one of the men and asked, ‘What are you doing Daddy?’

The father lifted the little girl to his lap and wondered how he was going to explain the complex problem they were struggling to solve. Eventually he said, ‘Darling, we’re trying to think of a name that tells people we’ll help them grow big and strong.’

The child looked at the mountain of drawing paper on the kitchen table and said, ‘Oh Daddy that’s easy, everyone knows Spinach helps you grow big and strong’.
